This artwork was selected as one of the 100 BAP, best arabic poster competition. The poster calls for making peace between myself and I, and between you and I. We've always perceived the term "duality" from a negative prism. We've given it meanings such as dishonesty and hesitancy. However, if we trace the word back to its original meaning, we will discover that it denotes the existence of two distinctive types of "the same specie" with little differences.
This poster is an invitation for peace among the different faces within one's self and other faces of people, for we are the same despite our differences.
This project is a combination of my vision, performance, writing, drawing, and my best friend's talent. Hashem Ainousa is the filmmaker who filmed, edited and directed the piece.
I always had this vision of making this project. It all started when I felt different than the majority in Saudi Arabia. I thought leaving is the solution, yet I did not find myself in the States. Later I figured that I carry home with me. I am not myself - back there or here. I don’t fit in either place. Finally, I wish to build and embrace a new space...a third space where all the misfits fit perfectly.
A diary is supposed to be hidden as it is personal. However, this particular diary is exposed for people: young & old. A state of youth that is so harmonic in which all ages ate included. For at the end of the day, what really matters is how old is their souls
